Congregational Care is made up of several distinct ministries that work in cooperation with one another to provide the most comprehensive care possible to members of our congregation.
Congregational Care Team
The Congregational Care Team is comprised of both the pastor and laity. Visitations may be made on a one-time basis either in a home or hospital prior to or after a surgery or illness. Visitations may also be made on a regular basis to assisted living facilities and rehabilitation centers. Regular telephone calls are made to the home bound and communion is served regularly at area assisted living facilities. To volunteer to serve in this ministry contact Jo Anderson through the Church office, 727-842-8136.
This team is comprised of several sub-teams. Some visit the sick, shut-ins and those in the hospital and hospice. Some give communion to those unable to attend worship. Some provide transportaion to church, the doctor or do general errands. Some make phone calls or send card to those in need of contact. Some are prayer warriors who pray for those on our weekly prayer list. Anyone can fulfill some essential role on the Congregational Care team.
Receiving Care
If you or a family member are ill, facing surgery or are no longer independent and mobile please let us know so we can visit and pray with you. You may inform the Congregational Care Team of your circumstance by calling or E-mailing the church office, 727-842-8136 or asburynpr@tampabay.rr.com. If there is a medical crisis or emergency please call the pastor’s cell phone, 727-389-8040.
Connectional Clusters
AUMC attendees are place in congregational clusters based on residential location. Currently there are 14 clusters each with several facilitators. Clusters enable the church to share informaiton about who lives in the neighborhood and who has needs and who might meet those needs. Additonal facilitators are welcome.
Counseling
Christian counseling is provided by a licensed mental health counselor with offices at Asbury. To inquire or make an appointment contact Dr. Pat Sovonick through the Church office, 727-842-8136.
Prayer
Asbury United Methodist Church is committed to your prayer needs and we invite your prayer requests. Prayer requests are placed on a prayer list in the bulletin, on a prayer chain over which these requests are prayed over daily and given to the prayer circle. Everyone is welcome to join the prayer circle which meets in the Conference Room every Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. If you are a “prayer warrior” and would like to be a member of the prayer chain please contact the Church office, 727-842-8136 or asburynpr@tampabay.rr.com. Submit a prayer request online at http://www.asburyumcnpr.com/prayer.cfm
